  • Overview

    POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Bookstore Manager in the daily operations. Daily duties will include management functions, opening/closing store, overseeing production/retail operations, providing training, professional development and performance feedback to staff, and performing administrative duties.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions Statements:

    1. Provides leadership, guidance, training and professional develop to staff by assistance the store manager with performance management such as annual performance reviews, 5-minue conversations, and coaching.
    2. Assist the store Manager with daily operations, ensuring store revenue and production goals are met. Performs administrative duties as needed.
    3. Utilizes 4DX methodology for achieving organizational goals.
    4. Addresses customer complaints quickly, politely and refers them to store manager when needed.
    5. Opens and closes store.  Responsible for daily decision-making, schedules, ambassador assignments, store planning, and completion of reports in a timely and accurate manner.
    6. Prices books and other merchandise in accordance with established best pricing practices – i.e., good, better, best, etc.; maintaining store profitability.
    7. Ensures that window and in-store displays are full and visually appealing at all times and maintains work areas safe and in orderly fashion.
    8. Gives recommendations for reorder when inventory of supplies drop below acceptable levels ensuring that supplies needed to keep the store running are always on hand.
    9. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to management immediately.
    10. In the absence of other management assumes all daily responsibilities.
    11. Ensures that all staff safely handle CRT/electronic donations, if applicable.
    12. Assists in handling employee conflict according to organization’s best practices and culture, as well as in accordance with employment laws and regulations.
    13. Performs other related duties as assigned. May be required to work at alternate store location as needed.

    Qualifications

    SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Education/Experience: Associates Degree (two-year College or technical school) preferred or minimum two years related experience.

     

    Computer Skills: Basic use of computer and computer related equipment/software. MS Office Suite – Word and Excel programs.

     

    Certificates & Licenses: Must have valid California Driver’s License with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s standards. Must have a reliable, insured vehicle.

     

    Equipment: Must be able to operate POS cash register.

     

    Other Requirements: Must be able to understand the basic principles of running a retail store: stocking, merchandise flow, quotas. Cash handling: Able to perform simple arithmetic tasks including addition, subtraction, fractions, percentages, calculate figures/amounts for change or discounts, etc.
