Directs, plans and controls the sales activities the of retail stores. Including the responsibility of directing the district/regional managers and ensuring they abide and implement plans for sales, production, product flow, staffing, presentation, pricing and the overall operation of the stores/department aligns with established Goodwill's mission, purpose, and guidelines.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  1. Analyzes sales statistics, financial plans and ROI to formulate strategies and direction for the district/regional managers.
  2. Responsible for the overall results of Retail locations sales principles: store layout, production, cash control, customer service, fresh and full consistency, and product flow.
  3. Develops and recommends changes in policies and procedures and submits them to VP of Retail.
  4. Coordinates with other departments on organizational projects and goals. To include training and development course for retail management/staff and security plans for retail.
  5. Assists in recruiting, screening, and selecting management candidates.
  6. Sets expectations and challenges retail district/regional managers and the store managers to achieve sales and maintain expenses to revenue ratio at acceptable levels.
  7. Supports VP of Retail on identifying new retail site locations. Makes recommendation for store layout and design and prepares store-opening plan.
  8. Supervises activities of all the district/regional managers to include training, coaching, development, and providing feedback.
  9. Develops budgets, business plan, pro-forma and sales strategy that attain company’s sales goals and generates profit.
  10. Responsible for implementing and maintaining Goodwill Culture, Mission, Core Values, and organizational methodologies while ensuring the district/regional managers are maintaining active participation and compliance in their districts.
  11. Provides guidance regarding management/ambassador corrective action, movement, terminations, hiring and position changes.
  12. Responsible for upholding GISD policies, procedures and any applicable laws and regulations; Ensures the district/regional managers are maintaining compliance within their districts.
  13. Provides feedback and assistance on store management performance issues.
  14. Performs work of the district/regional managers as needed.
  15. Investigates and/or delegates responsibility of investigations of all reports of wrongdoing and complaints about staff, in collaboration with Safety and Asset Protection and Human Resources departments.
  16. Plans retail management and district manager meetings and overall content.
  17. Implements the organization’s vision, mission, values, culture and overall direction in Retail department.
  18. Promotes practices and processes that contribute to success; directs the effective management of barriers that impede achieving targeted results.
  19. Creates a work environment that encourages ambassadors at all levels to have an opportunity for promotion and to express ideas and suggestions to achieve performance measures.
  20. Develops a work environment where ambassadors are engaged and understand their individual efforts contribute to the overall success of their departments and the organization.
  21. Establishes credibility by developing trusting relationships.
  22. Evaluates the success of the Retail department and recommends process improvement.
  23. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.



Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) required.

Experience: Five to ten years related experience.

Computer Skills: Internet use, e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Certificates & Licenses: Must have a vehicle, valid CA Driver’s License, proof of insurance and driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s insurance company. Current CPR & First Aid Certificate.

Other Requirements: Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to attend classes and other trainings. Ability to conduct training for a minimum of 150 people.
