Overview

Annual Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

Oversee the daily operations of the Human Resources department. Ensures practices follow applicable laws and regulations. Provides leadership and development to HR staff members.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

Provides generalist approach to the HR function including projects in the following areas:

  1. Provides direction, guidance, and support to management staff in handling Human Resources matters while ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, organizational policies, and procedures.
  2. Oversees the daily operations of the Human Resources Department, ensuring efficient and compliant administration of HR programs and services.
  3. Promptly investigates employee relations matters, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment concerns, abuse allegations, grievances, and other workplace complaints. Documents investigations, recommendations, resolutions, and conducts follow-up as appropriate.
  4. Maintains and analyzes complaint and employee relations trends, recommending corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies as needed.
  5. Oversees the administration of Leaves of Absence programs and ensures compliance with ADA, FMLA, CFRA, Pregnancy Disability Leave, work, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other applicable regulations.
  6. Oversees the New Hire Orientation process and ensures all onboarding documentation and employment practices comply with applicable employment laws and organizational standards.
  7. Provides support and guidance regarding recruitment, hiring, workforce planning, and staffing activities as needed.
  8. Provides training, coaching, and professional development opportunities for direct reports to support employee engagement, performance, and achievement of departmental goals.
  1. Collaborates with HR team members and organizational leadership to ensure policies, procedures, and company culture are applied consistently, fairly, and in alignment with organizational values.
  2. Recommends updates to personnel policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook to ensure legal compliance and operational effectiveness.
  3. Oversees unemployment insurance claims administration, coordinates with third-party administrators, and represents the organization in unemployment hearings as needed.
  4. Monitors developments in federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, advises leadership regarding changes, and ensures policies and practices remain compliant.
  5. Participates in special projects, strategic initiatives, audits, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement efforts that support organizational goals.
  6. Additional duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Education: Human Resources management Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Experience: Minimum of 5 years HR experience.

 

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. MS Office, internet, email.

 

Certificates & Licenses: Valid California Driver’s License with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance.

 

Other: Must meet the background check requirements of the department.
