Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Oversees the Goodwill Industries of San Diego County’s (GISD) learning and development programs and manages the Learning and Development Coordinator..  Works with Learning and Development Coordinator to effectively implement the Career Pathway Program, Paid Training Program, and Department Training to ensure the achievement of Learning and Development outcomes.. Designs, develops, and delivers  new training to increase the effectiveness of training programs.  

Responsibilities

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  1. Oversees the learning and development programs which include Onboarding, Career Pathway Steps, Paid Training Program, and other organizational training.

 

  1. Ensures the Career Pathway Program, Paid Training Program, and other organizational training are implemented according to the direction of the of the organization and meet specific outcomes.

 

  1. Initiates with and supports Department Managers with using  the Career Pathway Steps program including three-month onboarding plans, Leader Classes and other training opportunities to develop and advance ambassadors   
  2. Supports L&D team with the facilitation of  Career Pathway Classes and Corporate Onboarding
  3. Coaches and collaborates with managers on identifying training needs to develop their ambassadors  and achieve their department outcomes.  
  4. Facilitates Career Pathway Classes including Management Development Program and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and other organizational development programs.
  5. Designs and develops curriculum for Career Pathway Program, Paid Training Program and Department training with approval of Director of Learning and Development program.
  6. Oversees the administration of the ADP Learning Management System ensuring that all department managers are fully trained and confident in using the platform. Recommends courses in Premium  library to supplement Career Pathway Program and Department training
  7. Guides the Learning and Development Coordinator in their training and support of Learning and Development Instructors ensuring L&D collaborates with management in providing quality instruction and uses the four-step training to coach their ambassadors and trainees.
  8. Ensures L&D Team  supports management in training ambassadors on the Career Pathway 1 classes and in providing extra support in the onboarding of new hires.
  9. Works with the Learning and Development Coordinator in promoting Career Pathways Program and coaching managers on using the Leader Step 2 class to prepare ambassadors for Supervisor roles.
  10. Works with Coordinator on collaborating with management, being objective when addressing and resolving issues with Paid Trainees.
  11. Supports L&D Coordinator in  Collaborating with department leaders to support the effective placement of participants in the Paid Training Program to achieve desired outcomes.
  12. Researches educational opportunities in San Diego and Imperial County regularly to update Education Portal. Promote and informs ambassadors about educational opportunities and tuition reimbursement program for our ambassadors.
  13. Works  regularly with Career Advisors and Employment Service Manager ensuring workshops offered through Community Employment Centers are updated and provide quality curriculum and instruction according to organizational expectations. Creates and adds workshops as needed
  14. Coaches the Learning and Development team on the departmental and organizational expectations for working together and role-modeling our core values and standards
  15. Reviews, monitors, and provides feedback to the Director of Learning and Development on new training opportunities and improvements for the learning and development programs. Works with the Director of Learning and Development or/and department leaders to develop and implement organizational training, according to organizational and departmental needs and expectations, to strengthen learning culture and performance efficiency.
  16. Coordinates Organizational training events such as Supervisory and Paid Training Graduation.
  17. Ensures Learning and Development course instruction, classes, workshops and departmental trainings are tailored to Adult Learners and can be taught in a vocational training environment so that ambassadors and job seekers can apply the content of the training to their job situation
  18. Ensures that the Learning and Development team provides excellent customer service to our ambassadors before, during and after each training
  19.  Stays updated on the latest learning and development techniques and technologies
  20.  Participate in department meetings as scheduled.
  21.  Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

Education: GED or High School education required; AA degree, Certification in related field or combination of education and experience in related field equally 2-year degree required; BA or BS preferred 

 

Experience: Require advanced job knowledge, education, and minimum 5 years experience in related field upon hire or 5 years of GISD experience in level 5 or 6 position, or combination of past experience and GISD experience equally 5 years 

 

Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills, MS Office, MS Project, email, internet

 

Certificates and Licenses: Must have a valid CA driver’s license, proof of insurance and driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s insurance company.
