Work Schedule: Varies, includes weekends and may include evenings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Monitors and tracks department’s fleet monthly expenses. Reviews and pre-approves all bills and forwards them to the Director of Transportation and Vice President of Operations for approval in a timely manner. Immediately notifies the Director of any discrepancies or concerns. Completes monthly P&L explanation for the department’s fleet expenses.
2. Stays current with Federal, State, and local regulations related to vehicle and equipment operation, safety, and emissions. Ensures all fleet assets meet regulatory standards and maintains up-to-date documentation, licenses, and certifications.
3. Schedules and coordinates all necessary vehicle maintenance and vehicle repairs are completed on the fleet in a timely manner, ensuring all vehicles are safe and compliant with DOT regulations. Ensures minimum downtime and maximum asset lifespan.
4. Manages outside fleet and equipment vendors and maintenance providers. Schedules services, conducts price comparisons, resolves concerns.
5. Maintains detailed and accurate records of fleet activity, maintenance activities, repairs, accidents, and related expenses.
6. Prepares monthly reports on fleet performance and activity.
7. Develops and executes comprehensive fleet management strategies to optimize the utilization of vehicles and equipment while meeting project requirements.
8. Monitors fleet performance metrics, such as utilization rates, miles traveled, downtime, and fuel efficiency, and suggests and implements improvements as necessary.
9. Develops and manages the fleet budget, tracking expenses related to fuel, maintenance, repairs, and vehicle acquisition.
10. Works closely and communicates well with Transportation Manager, Transportation Director, Distribution Center personnel, Truck Driver and Truck Helpers to meet department objectives.
11. Assists in creating and implementing training sessions and/or materials to ensure operational efficiency, and safety of the public, staff, and vehicles.
12. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incident of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to their immediate supervisor and SAP/Human Resources departments.
13. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education : High School Graduate, Associates Degree (Two year college or technical school) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years related experience (logistics or supply chain background preferred), or equivalent education. Diesel and mechanical knowledge preferred.
Computer Skills: Must have proficient intermediate level skills in the following: Email, MS Word, and MS Excel. Experience in the use of GPS tracking software preferred.
Certificates & Licenses: Valid California Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s standards. Class A or B license is preferred
