Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides job-coaching services to Supported Employment program participants working in group or individual work settings and Paid Internship Program.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions Statement(s):

 

  1. Provides job coaching and promotes career development support to improve job skills,
    wages, and productivity of participants served at the business site with the goal of moving
    Participants into individual Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) job opportunities.
  2. Promotes and facilitates social integration between participants and other employees in
    collaboration with customer’s supervisors/managers. Monitors participant activity to
    Ensure productivity, quality learning, completion of program and work assignments, and
    Quality outcomes. Becomes familiar with the needs and limitations of assigned clients to
    Ensure appropriate accommodations and effective client supervision.
  3. Provides personal and career counseling as well as behavioral intervention for
    participants
  4. Performs work alongside participants for purposes of training, role modeling, and
    supporting the needs of the participants and the employer.
  5. Teaches work skills (or life skills where appropriate) to participants at various job sites
    Using repetitious training methods and plain language.
  6. Maintains excellent communication with managers, supervisors and employees
    to support positive outcomes and to resolve participant performance problems or other issues.
  7. Regularly meets with participant’s supervisor to discuss participant’s progress and any
    training concerns. Regularly attends staff meetings as required.
  8. Completes administrative duties, including monthly statistics, progress reports, updating
    Program plans, and data entry utilizing company database programs.
  9. Communicates with referring agencies, care providers, parents, and counselors as
    appropriate, regarding any issues that may affect a participant’s employment. Notifies
    Job Coach II or III and/or site manager immediately of any problems with participants,
    Referring agencies, or employers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  10. Works with leads, supervisors and site managers in preparing daily/weekly scheduled job
    duties for participants.
  11. Substitutes for individual and group job coaches as needed. Performs coaching functions
    (direct on the job functions with participants) and related administrative (non-direct functions such as
    reports, case notes, prepping OPMs and IHSPs, accurately recording mileage, interactions with
    supervisors and referring agencies, etc.).
  12. Assists with SE administrative needs and participants training as assigned when job
    coaching opportunities are unavailable.
  13. Provide direct and non-direct coaching services to IP and Group Participants.
    Responsible for assigned participant case management when providing these services.
  14. Performs all necessary supervisory tasks for direct reports including coaching, scheduling,
    performance evaluations and other performance management documents for direct reports.
  15. Assists Job Coach I(s) and employers in appropriate participant crisis intervention.
  16. Assists in maintaining current participant files and records.
  17. Facilitates all Regional Center IHSP and ISP meetings for assigned program participants.
  18. Performs monthly site visits at assigned program sites and completes the Monthly Site
    Visit form and participates in the rotating supervisory schedule for Saturdays. Ensures
    overall quality, consistency, and timeliness of services of all Job Coach I(s) to
    participants, employers and referring agencies.
  19. Provides initial and follow up trainings to Job Coaches as needed.
  20. Assists the Supported Programs Manager in job development; job exploration, shadowing,
    applications, interviews.
  21. Plans and facilitates monthly CIE meetings.
  22. Communicates with SDRC and DOR to find community alternatives and opportunities, when
    appropriate.
  23. Assists supervisor in identifying participants that are ready to transition between levels of
    service, and communicates with program Recruiter about program vacancies.
  24. Provides job development to companies and organizations resulting in obtaining long-term
    competitive employment.
  25. Provides employment preparation geared towards CIE assists with applications,
    assessments, meet and greets, interviews, transportation resource, new hire orientations, etc.,
  26. Consistently meets and or exceeds placement and retention needs.
  27. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

Education: Certification in related field or BA or BS preferred.

 

Experience: Five years of experience in related field. At least two years supervisory experience preferred.

 

Computer Skills: MS Office Suite. Strong E-mail communication skills. Strong file management or case management skills. Must have ability to learn client tracking software.

 

Certificates & Licenses:  Must be able to pass all required criminal background checks and become First Aid & CPR certified. Must have a valid CA Driver's license and current vehicle insurance. Required to pass Goodwill's insurance company requirements for driving on company time. Must have a reliable vehicle.
